Dan Barton is a commercial 2D printer with a wedding invitation business who had a desire to expand the types of services his business offered. That desire to break into new territory brought him to ZVerse. Barton not only saw the potential that our LAYR technology could bring by rendering 2D images to 3D printable files, but he also saw the value that it would add for his clientele. With the LAYR software, he would be able to expand his 2D printing business into the 3D realm and offer unique wedding favors and gifts to his clients.
Barton is a LAYR subscriber based in Utah, and as such, his customers often have ties to or are part of the Latter-Day Saints community. Barton wanted to offer something that holds great significance within this community as a wedding keepsake—3D replicas of a Latter-Day Saints temple. To begin the process of creating these keepsakes, Barton uploaded pictures of a local temple into the LAYR platform, and the software transformed the 2D images into a 3D printable file. ZVerse then took this 3D printable file and began constructing the file into a physical reality.
Since temples hold such strong importance to the Latter-Day Saints community, ZVerse took great care to create an accurate and detailed representation. We spent an extensive amount of time focusing on bringing the ornate Gothic structure to life, providing intricate detail to the multiple towers and minutia of the architecture. Even with all this time and effort spent on creating an accurate and detailed replica, ZVerse was able to produce the temple keepsakes within a two week timeframe.
